1: The Beginning

Welcome to our blog, Mother and Daughter Thoughts. It’s a blog page run by Filipino mother, Aileen (she/her) and half Filipino child Eliot (they/them) (the writer). (It’s very weird writing about yourself and your mom in third person; I would not recommend).

Since this is our first post, I assume it would only be proper to give an introduction. My mother is a Filipino who loves photography, exercising, and experimenting with food. I’m also Filipino - only half though, I’m ¼ Danish and ¼ German - who loves writing, reading, and dancing. We both love art, gardening, and watching anime.

And that’s all for now. There’ll most likely be more information about us in later posts - nothing personal of course; wouldn’t want to get stalked, hacked, etc. seeing as neither of those sound fun. But I digress; either way, you must be wondering, “But Eliot, what will you post about? What is this blog about?” And we shall get to that, dear Reader.

Reviews on books we’ve read, anime we’ve watched, movies we've seen, recipes we made or are trying, stories from different experiences (either funny or serious), opinions on songs and albums as well, and some other things will most likely be posted on here. Maybe some rants on certain things, like pink tax and how it’s completely unfair, or how saying “attack helicopter” is extremely disrespectful and rude to trans people. Or a rant on how school is both more difficult and easy while we're online (for my school I mean; can't vouch for all of them).

Let me just make something very clear right now: if you are homophobic, transphobic, sexist, xenophobic, racist, or just rude, then leave. I am not putting up with you and I will not deal with you. I do not want to read any comments like that. And, please, don’t be rude to others in the comments either.

And that about sums everything up, I presume. Until next time, dear Reader.

Signing off,

Mother and Eliot

20: Week 20

Hello dear Reader, yes I realize I didn’t post last week. I’ll try to do it next Sunday, but we’ll see when I actually write it. I apologize again.       Make sure you drink enough water, that you eat three meals today, and that you take your vitamins or medication(s) if necessary. I hope your day is good and relaxing. I’m just going to add in a poem today; I’ll probably write something else next weekend. Anyways, enjoy the poem! And if you have any constructive criticism for me, I’ll gladly take it; any chance to improve my writing. Also, please tell me if my dialogue seems “robotic” or something; I think I need to work on it.        “Sterling! Now!”       Sterling was in the middle of a battle, his friends on either side of him about to be demolished by his enemies. Of course, they weren’t expecting an ambush. They had just fought a few days ago and left the enemies with severe injuries. They shouldn’...

8: No One Asked for this But Here You Go Anyways (Recommendations, part two)

Hello dear Reader. Yes, again, recommendations. But this time, it’s for my fellow bibliophiles. So here is a list of books I highly recommend. If you want to find more books, look on Goodreads, a bookstore, or your library.  The list: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak How to Make Friends with the Dark by Kathleen Glasglow The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. 21: Week 21

Hello dear Reader, I sincerely apologize for the lack of posts. I didn’t post around the end of May due to my finals and wanting to focus on school and on keeping my grades up. I may have lost track of time ever since summer started but I’m back to posting weekly. I hope everyone’s summer has been good so far. Make sure to wear your mask if you aren’t vaccinated and if you’re in a public area where it’s required. What has everyone been doing so far? I haven’t done much. One of my best friends and I had our first sleepover; a friend came over on Friday so we went swimming; I’ve been world building for a new story - more on that later - and Mother and I are going thrifting on Tuesday. I also planted some new plants for myself. Not to mention dance stuff is going on, so there’s that.  Now, on to my new story. In the spring semester of this school year, I had creative writing. During the class, we had workshops, where we would write a short story - around four pages - and read it out l...
