11: Week 11

Hello dear Reader. I hope you are doing well and that everyone you care about is safe and healthy. Instead of writing about my week as usual, I want to focus on mental health today. Mental health is very important and you should remember to take care of yourselves. My psychology teacher likes to say, “If we don’t take care of ourselves, who will?” Shoutout to her, she’s cool. Plus she likes The Lord of The Rings.

If you aren’t feeling well mentally, take a break. Get some rest, go outside in your back or front yard. If you live in an apartment but have a balcony, go on your balcony. Drink some water. It doesn’t have to be a lot but at least one cup will be good. Get some sleep if you need it. Yes getting your work done it good but it’s better to take a break now rather than get everything done while feeling horrible. Do some exercise, it doesn’t have to be anything heavy either. It can be yoga or just stretching. Eat some fruit and vegetables, have some protein. Take care of you and your body and your mind and your soul.

Okay technically that wasn’t mental health related but it’s fine because that can be self care which is also good for you. I’ll also leave some hotlines in case you or a loved one need a number.

If you want something to do that is mental health related/related to taking care of yourself, I recommend you make a Distress Tolerance Box. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s basically a box where you put in things that will help you when you’re distressed or just need something to help you ease your mind. This was my psychology midterm and I haven’t used mine yet but I still have it in case. You’ll need a box and things that relate to the five senses that you like. For example, for sight I chose The Lord of The Rings movie trilogy because I enjoy watching the series and it’s easy to get drawn into. Another example, for taste I chose tea packets (I also added snacks but I may have ate them a while ago. I wasn’t distressed, I just wanted the snacks) because tea is one of my favorites drinks and iced tea is good as well. Just something that relates to the five senses that will help calm you down.

Another thing that will help is a WRAP. A WRAP is a Wellness Recovery and Action Plan, meant to help you when you don’t feel well. There are five sections but I can’t remember all of them right now. It’s basically for when you don’t feel well, you can look through it to see how you can receive the help and support you need. You can put it in a notebook, journal, do it on separate pages and put them together in a binder, your choice. Look it up for more information, I can’t remember everything about it right now. Sorry.

Just remember: you are loved. You are cared for. You are supported. You are an amazing human being who deserves good things in life. It’s okay to feel tired, just get some rest and focus on yourself. It’s not selfish to love yourself. You do what you want to do, not what others want you to do. And it’s okay if you aren’t sure what you want to do yet. You have time.

Now, drink some water, take care of yourself, and take your vitamins or medication if you have any.

20: Week 20

Hello dear Reader, yes I realize I didn’t post last week. I’ll try to do it next Sunday, but we’ll see when I actually write it. I apologize again.       Make sure you drink enough water, that you eat three meals today, and that you take your vitamins or medication(s) if necessary. I hope your day is good and relaxing. I’m just going to add in a poem today; I’ll probably write something else next weekend. Anyways, enjoy the poem! And if you have any constructive criticism for me, I’ll gladly take it; any chance to improve my writing. Also, please tell me if my dialogue seems “robotic” or something; I think I need to work on it.        “Sterling! Now!”       Sterling was in the middle of a battle, his friends on either side of him about to be demolished by his enemies. Of course, they weren’t expecting an ambush. They had just fought a few days ago and left the enemies with severe injuries. They shouldn’...

21: Week 21

Hello dear Reader, I sincerely apologize for the lack of posts. I didn’t post around the end of May due to my finals and wanting to focus on school and on keeping my grades up. I may have lost track of time ever since summer started but I’m back to posting weekly. I hope everyone’s summer has been good so far. Make sure to wear your mask if you aren’t vaccinated and if you’re in a public area where it’s required. What has everyone been doing so far? I haven’t done much. One of my best friends and I had our first sleepover; a friend came over on Friday so we went swimming; I’ve been world building for a new story - more on that later - and Mother and I are going thrifting on Tuesday. I also planted some new plants for myself. Not to mention dance stuff is going on, so there’s that.  Now, on to my new story. In the spring semester of this school year, I had creative writing. During the class, we had workshops, where we would write a short story - around four pages - and read it out l...
